The Rouge Royale hits the production room

My newest project with the guys from The Rouge Royale has just hit a pivotal point in which we have started recording our demo. I can’t say enough how honored I feel to be playing with Tony Rouhotas (drummer), Jaxon Dillon-Fish (bassist), and Tim Sharp (Lead Guitar/Vocals). Our first day in the studio produced results that blew me away and this journey is looking to be one of the most exciting ones yet

Arlene’s Grocery Rocked

Super powers fully enabled, big ass amps, larger than life sound, light’s galore. The house was packed, shoulder to should no room to get in and a line out the door and around the bend. Sorry to those who couldn’t get in, we’ll do our best to make sure we find larger venues… But for those that were inside- what a time it was. The Rouge Royale tore the roof off, and insighted a dancing furry among the wave of fans and friends.

Soon we will release at least part of the show to the public including three camera angles and a fully mixed, multi track pro audio recording of the gig. We hope your holidays are full of love and happiness… Until next time, we Rouge for you

James Ruff plays at the United Nations

James Ruff and band mate/friend Jaxon Dillon Fish perform across from the United Nations in New York City in order to support Human Rights and Social Economic Liberty Saturday June 4th, 2011 while bringing awareness to the atrocities of the Tiananmen Square Massacre of 1989.

Survivors, family members and many leaders were present in reverence of the deceased and injured in an effort to gain the United Nations support in the aid of influencing the Chinese Government toward a new Democratic China. The Duo performed songs of political/social sentiment and left the crowd singing “We Will, We Will Stand Up!” while bring smiles and closeness to a community damaged by the barbaric behavior of the Chinese government who stepped far beyond all humane bounds in an effort to suppress a predominantly non-violent movement.

My best friends and I go swimming with the sharks

My oldest bro gives me a ring and says “Hey James, wanna come on an audition with me? And what about Tim, can you give him a ring too?”

Long story short after we enter a room where we are told “you may experience the adventure of your life, but for now tell us a little about yourselves…” and a few days later we receive an email inquiring on our availabilities in the upcoming weeks. Fast forward, three of my closest friends and I are on a plane to the Bahamas, to meet with supposed “Bacardi representatives” with little to no sleep, and each one of us suffering a bit from our irish breakfast

I wont lie, I was scared to death that we were being lured into a scene out of the movie “Hostel” and this fear really didn’t go away until I woke up the next day on a boat in the middle of the ocean surrounded by a bunch of seamen and cameras. We had been “tricked” into going shark diving, after being told we would be going deep see fishing only to soon find out that “we were the bait”…

All is well that ends well and the experience will never be forgotten. I’m considering writing up a detailed depiction of what happened during those crazy hours… We survived the sharks and the sea sickness, had wonderful food made by the boat’s lovely chef (she was great), and got quite tipsy on Bicardi’s new Oakheart all for free! Bad ass! More details shall come but this will need to wait until later. For now, check out the video

James Ruff’s new summer single “Aphrodite” has now hit the production room with Lee Nadel, Rich Mercurio and Billy Masters and a new special guest bringing in the Hamon B3 Organ. A totally different feel and vibe from any other work Ruff has released this new track vibes upon a summer night along shores of sand, sitting around a bonfire, aside a cool pool, or laying in the sun. Laugh, sway and enjoy the warm summer air while listening to the sweet melodies and relaxed voice of James in his first production utilizing his deep baratone voice. Think Jack Johnson meets The Beach Boys while Ruff plays his new found love: the ukelele. A true summer jingle for all the joyous parties of the time.

James Ruff- Singer/Song Writer/Musician/Composer

This internationally touring front man is often found singing for a cause at various charity and social awareness events. Though James has played with several bands, his most noted and recent was “James Ruff and The Bandits.” Currently however, a new project rumored to have larger than life sound featuring friends Tim Sharp (guitar, vocal harmonies and piano) and Jaxon Dillon Fish (bass, kick drum and didgeridoo) has created a whole new level of intensity utilizing medleys or foot stomping, dance your heart out funkadelic rhythms and a much more feet in the mud rawness. The trio is know as Ruff Sharp Fish (RSF).

“Take My Hand” full band EP completed and nearing distribution

While much of the work for the soon to be released full band EP “Take My Hand” was completed in 2010 final details are being worked out currently. These new recordings feature a much more full sound than the acoustic album “Long Journey Home” with the influence and collaborative efforts of James’ new production team at Threshold Studios (Lee Nadel and Rich Mercurio). Lee Nadel brings in the groove on bass and keys, Rich Mercurio is solid as ever on the drums, and adds wonderful percussive texture and and richness with background vocals and guitar virtuoso Billy Masters powerful electric guitar solos and masterful acoustic skills elevate the entire sound to new dimensions.

Four of the five songs were featured on James’ debut album and are now expressed in a much more bold and dynamic expression with colors of organ, and even more developed melody and harmonies being just a few of the new sonic details. “At the Water’s Edge” is reminiscent of Lynard Skynard showing an even more confident and powerful James Ruff than before. Attitude abound this new sound is both exciting and stimulating.

“Take My Hand” is scheduled to be released into distribution during the summer of 2011.
